I have a set of 5-year-old triplets who were born at 26 weeks, weighing less than 2 pounds each. Two of the boys, Kellen and Bryce, had strokes at birth and now have a form of cerebral palsy. Therapy is so important to our family. Yes, my boys get therapy at school, but there are limits for what they can work with them on, as school therapy goals must be educationally based. My boys need more than what the school is able to offer.
Private therapy is very important. We need therapy to help them learn their day to day basic living skills, like how to put their own shoes on, get dressed, and feed themselves. We are currently relying a great deal on private therapy to help with preparing my boys for kindergarten. Unfortunately, we have limits on how much therapy we can get due to insurance coverage. It is important that legislation get passed which would guarantee my boys the therapies they need to be successful!
